Global resources for help with sexual risks and harms

Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our Snapchat community. Our goal is  to foster a joyful, creative experience on Snapchat, while responsibly addressing risks and harms where they may exist. That responsibility includes providing information and resources about ways in which bad actors may seek to take advantage of members of our Snapchat community.

Unfortunately, unwanted exposure to sexually suggestive content or attempts to involve users in exploitative, and even abusive, sexual activity are on the rise across online spaces. In an effort to help raise awareness among and educate all Snapchatters about various distressing trends, we’ve compiled a series of Safety Snapchat episodes that are available in the Snapchat app. They cover four specific topics:

  • Consequences of creating and sharing nudes

  • Online “grooming” of children for sexual purposes

  • Child sex trafficking, and

  • Financially motivated “sextortion.”

We encourage all members of our Snapchat community – and parents – to view these short videos; really think about and take in the content; and discuss them with friends and family. In the event that teens or others need help from experts in any of these areas, consider contacting these organizations in your country or region.
