Our Transparency Report for the First Half of 2024

December 4, 2024

Today, we’re releasing our latest transparency report covering the first half of 2024.

At Snapchat, transparency reports are crucial for sharing our progress toward a top priority: Snapchatter safety. With each report, we hope to make our community more aware of our tools and robust safety efforts.

While a significant portion of our enforcements are prompted by the reports we receive, we also take proactive steps to detect and enforce against violations of Snapchat’s Community Guidelines with the assistance of tools such as machine learning and keyword detection. Starting with this report, we will be sharing more detailed data, at both the global- and country-level, relating to those proactive efforts, providing insight on the total number of proactive enforcements, unique accounts enforced, and median turnaround times for those enforcements. As outlined in this report, we took over 3.4 million proactive enforcement actions in the first half of 2024 with the help of these tools.

We have also added a new section at the top of the report, which provides a combined overview of both our proactive and reactive efforts. This new section complements the dedicated sections that report in greater detail on our reactive and proactive enforcements.

At Snapchat, the safety of our community is a top priority and we will continue to share our progress in this area with bi-annual transparency reports.
